Lesson Plan 5: Write a Monologue - "I am Monadnock"

Imagine yourself as Grand Monadnock. In the first person, write 700 words about: Who are your friends...
and why. Impersonate Monadnock as a living character. You can review and explore paintings, photos and maps of the mountain through many links at left.

Other topics may include:
  • when were you born, and how you have you changed or remained the same,
  • what you know about your environment through centuries and millenia,
  • what are your concerns for the future?
Write your monologue of 700 words or less as a story, or as drama, or performance art. Be prepared to read it to the class, and/or to recite it. Give some thought to an optional costume for yourself, as the mountain or perhaps as camouflage.

If you wish, publish part of your monologue as a post in the comment section.

You may arrange to perform monologues at an art show event.

Optional: imagine and write what Thayer might have said, speaking as the mountain, and describe what he might have made for a costume.
